Having begun substantive work in January 2001, DPIA has made a significant difference to its beneficiaries. The organisation has:
- Set up the successful Wales Asylum seeker & Refugee Doctors (WARD) Group
- Facilitated the formation, growth and development of a number of Refugee Community Groups
- Provided volunteer placements
- Provided drop-in facilities with free internet access
