DPIA's Objectives

  • The relief of those seeking asylum and those granted refugee status who are in conditions of need, hardship and distress.
  • To promote the integration of those seeking asylum and those granted refugee status by:
    • The advancement of their education and the relief of unemployment through the provision of advice, guidance, support and services.
    • The provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupations in the interests of social welfare in order to improve their conditions of life.
    • Advancing the education of the public in general about the issues relating to refugees and those seeking asylum.
    • Supporting new and existing refugee community groups across Wales.

What DPIA does

  • We support the development of new and existing refugee community groups across Wales.
  • We provide advice, guidance and support on training, volunteering and employment issues including delivery of readiness for work training programme.
  • We promote inclusion to mainstream child and youth facilities and runs bridging projects such as Parents and Toddlers Groups and Duke of Edinburgh for young asylum seekers and refugees.
  • We work in partnership with key agencies from the statutory and voluntary sectors to improve refugee integration with in Wales and undertake campaign and policy work.
  • We provide training, information and resources on asylum and human rights issues facing displaced people.
